The API board appoints Mr Marcel Mukeshimana as new chairman at its first virtual meeting
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and with most African countries still experiencing travel restrictions the Interim Oversight Board (IOB), the body that oversees the strategic direction of the API, recently held its first virtual meeting. This meeting was a success, with board members from at least 9 countries attending and participating in the meeting. At this meeting, the board appointed its new chairman Mr Marcel Mukeshimana, who is the Accountant General in the Republic of Rwanda’s Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning. Mr Mukeshimana, a professional accountant, has been actively involved in the activities of the IOB and therefore his appointment to the leadership of this initiative received unanimous support.
The IOB meeting achieved the following main outcomes at its meeting:
- The approval of the API Strategy for public exposure
- The approval of API country-implementation criteria
- The approval of the White paper on professionalisation as thought leadership on the API
