Press Release Summary
April 15, Pretoria, South Africa,
Today, API announced the launch of the affordable (Only USD 100 per learner) Ethics Short Certification Course for public sector officers that accelerates good financial governance by ensuring all public sector Accountants, auditors and other officers have access to high quality learning about ethics and accountability.
Problem Statement
There exists a severe challenge of realising quality mainstreaming of ethics and accountability practices for different public sector cadres and many government audit reports disclose examples of unethical behaviour and practices in management of public resources, with some countries reporting cases indicating upwards of a third of the public budget unaccounted for; and it’s a challenge that needs redress partly, through the mainstreaming of ethical practices and principles through initiatives such as the Public Sector Ethics Certification programme.
The Solution
With the API Ethics and Accountability certification, participants (learners) will be equipped with practical lessons about the implications and role of ethics in their work and service to the public followed by a free practical virtual workshop to demonstrate how this creates benefits for citizens in the socio-economic value chain of every country.
Duration
Learners will complete the certification within a month. However, those who are busy will have an additional two months within which they can complete making it a total of three (3) months.
Competency Based
The Public Sector Ethics Certification is competency based in design, structure, delivery and assessment. The learning content is designed to address the essential competencies required by accountants, auditors and non-finance managers. These competencies are derived from an understanding of the learners’ work environments, relevant skill requirements, as well as considerations for future readiness and employability. The competency model is integrated into the online assessments to evaluate proficiency effectively. Development of the certification programme is guided by standards set forth by INTOSAI, AFROSAI, IFAC and the IFAC independent standards setting boards.
