The African Professionalisation Initiative (API) has kick-started its first pilot of learning content. This learning content has been developed in line with the API Competency Framework under the oversight of the interim Academic Advisory Committee and implemented on the brand-new online platform, API Learning. The content developed is for an accelerated learning programme which addresses the needs of incumbents in public finance management roles who do not have a formal accountancy qualification.
The objective of this pilot is to draw feedback from participants on the effectiveness of the learning programme. Pilot learners were nominated by stakeholders and come from diverse backgrounds and countries (including Botswana, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia and Zimbabwe). This piloting process will provide valuable information on whether the learning experience on API Learning speaks directly to the needs of this group. The goal is to ensure a world-class, African accelerated learning programme which can be used as part of a pathway to professional accountancy qualifications.
